Field Trip 4: LES Galleries Reaction

The galleries in the Lower East Side shared many similarity and differences to the galleries in Chelsea. I realize the atmosphere and the location was nothing like Chelsea. I found it very strange why the individual that owns Chelsea would choose that area to display their art. When I first came into the galleries it allow me to discover something at me. I was able to tell the difference between what is good and bad art better. I was able to understand other artist work of art and their ability to illustrate their feelings. It’s really like you stepping into a different world of understanding. I think being able to learn from other works is the stepping-stone of improvement.
The Lesley Heller Workspace has many different unique works of art. The artist used bright colors and created different geometric shapes. The second artwork had many different parts that were complex to me There were these rings that stood next to the objects that was in the corner on display. The artist printed these shapes and it was weird to me. I have seen something similar like this at the Chelsea.
My first thought about the gallery “UNTITLED” was why did they say it untitled but then I realize it was under some work still. The floors were dirty and the objects were lounging in the middle of the space, and the paintings seen to be unfinished. Chelsea had nothing on this gallery because of its appearance; I felt that the audience was able to see the real thing. Chelsea feels like it is focus on putting on a work rather than actually displaying the artwork.
The gallery was located better neighborhood, and more diverse people were around rather than at Chelsea. Chelsea is located in a more quiet neighborhood, and is not as moving to me as the Lower East Side. Both Chelsea and Lower East Side shared the same concept and that was art. I seen a few art works that I feel was similar to Chelsea galleries so I think that they do have the same type of collectors. The location of the art does affect my perspective of the art because it tells me that difference of where good art could be. My favorite artwork I seen so far was at Chelsea called “The Pale” created by Aaron Nagel and “The Senzo Pieao ll.”
